Steps
- Locates a real query with insufficient results and confirms that the product exists in the index.
- In Synonyms, register equivalences of the same concept and save.
- Try both ways and check brands, capacities and accessories.
Good and bad synonyms
“Laptop” and “portable” can be equivalent within a catalog. “Laptop” and “charger” are not. Neither “SSD 1TB” and “SSD 2TB”. A synonym should not be used to promote a brand or change a purchasing condition.
Typing errors
The engine already applies typographical tolerance. Don’t add each error as a permanent equivalence before checking that tolerance. If an exact SKU fails, check its data and indexing first.
How to verify it worked
Equivalencies retrieve the correct product without degrading previously working queries.
